This reference describes verified Treasury behavior. It covers the topics below; a missing topic does not establish that a feature is unsupported.

Auto-categorization and rules

Treasury has no user-defined categorization rules engine: no Settings → Rules, New Rule, rule priorities, or apply-rule-to-past-transactions action. The real Settings → Auto-categorization page offers All, Confident only, and None. None still provides suggestions. Apply predictions can apply eligible existing AI predictions; this is not a user-defined matching rule or a guarantee that every bank descriptor gets a chosen category. Manual categorization and Turbo Review are alternatives.

Internal transfers

There is no per-transaction Internal Transfer toggle. Settings → Preferences has a global Internal Transfer Handling preference: Leave Unreviewed (none), Exclude from Budget (exclude), Auto-Delete (soft_delete). It applies to detected transfers. Current detection covers credit-card payments, not checking-to-savings transfers. Transactions can individually be excluded using Exclude; there is no category-level Hidden from Budget toggle. Auto-Delete moves detected transfers to Trash, not immediate permanent deletion.

Reading transaction rows

A transaction’s merchant/description is not its account. Wide rows show merchant, tags, category, account, amount; date appears in the date-group heading or under the merchant, not a separate body cell. On narrower screens, the account and tags fields are hidden. Stored Plaid-positive amounts are outflows, negative amounts are inflows. UI displays inflows as green + amounts. An inflow can be a transfer, not earned income.

Editing transaction amounts

Open a transaction to use Edit Amount. The New Amount input supports a positive/negative toggle and currency changes. Amount/sign editing exists. The advisor cannot edit transactions. Do not change a correct amount or sign to resolve confusion about a row.

Budget Ins and Outs

Budget Ins adds incoming amounts and Outs adds outgoing amounts, based on direction rather than category type. Net is Ins minus Outs. Totals use converted amounts in your primary currency, with conversion to the budget display currency when applicable. Scope follows the selected period, budget categories (including applicable uncategorized rows), tags, and accounts. Excluded and deleted transactions do not count; transactions without a converted amount cannot contribute. A Saving category or internal-transfer flag does not by itself remove a transaction from these totals or reverse its direction. Category types affect budget planning and progress.

Tags

Create a tag: Settings → Tags → New Tag; enter a name and optional description; click Create. Tags track trips/projects across categories. Edit through the row’s three-dot menu → Edit Tag, then Save Changes.

Categories

Create a category: Settings → Categories → New Category; enter Name, choose Type (Income, Expense, Saving), choose Color and optional Description; click Create. Category assignment does not change transaction direction. There is no category-level Excluded / Hidden from Budget setting.

Settings overview

Settings contains Account, Subscription, Preferences, Connections, Manual Accounts, Auto-categorization, Categories, Tags, Memory, and Data Import. Auto-categorization controls AI prediction confidence (All, Confident only, None) and Apply predictions; it does not create or manage categorization rules. There is no Rules page or user-defined rules engine. Each topic has its own reference entry; only describe steps verified in that entry. Settings also includes Help & feedback under Support; use the support topic for contacting the team.

Preferences

Settings → Preferences contains Primary Budget (choose a budget, then Save Changes), Primary Currency, Internal Transfer Handling, Notifications, and Appearance. Primary Currency is used for totals; individual transactions retain their original currency. This global transfer preference is not a per-transaction transfer toggle.

Bank connections

To connect a bank: Settings → Connections → New Connection (or Connect account in the empty state), then complete the Plaid connection flow. Institutions and data availability depend on Plaid. Treasury reads connected financial data; it cannot move money, make transfers, or pay bills. A bank descriptor on a transaction is not necessarily the account name.

Manual accounts

Use Settings → Manual Accounts for accounts/assets you maintain manually when an automatic connection is unavailable. The Create Manual Account dialog collects account details and has a Create button; Edit Manual Account saves with Save Changes. Manual accounts do not automatically sync a bank feed.

Data import

Start at Settings → Data Import → New Import, or Import data in the empty state. Imports can be undone within seven days; older imports are archived. Import data is an import workflow, not a public API or webhook configuration. Follow the import wizard for source-specific fields; this entry does not verify every import format or wizard step.

Advisor memory

The advisor can save, update, and forget memory; this is separate from editing financial records. Settings → Memory lets you review and manage memories, including Delete all with confirmation. Memory is user context, not authoritative evidence about Treasury capabilities or a disputed transaction.

Account and sign-in

Settings → Account has name and email profile controls, sign-in methods, and Delete Account. Treasury is passwordless: passkeys and connected Google/Apple sign-in are managed here; there is no password-change or password-reset workflow. Deleting the account is distinct from removing a bank connection. Do not invent a Security → Password page.

Subscription and billing

Settings → Subscription shows the current subscription. Users without a subscription record are routed to subscription onboarding. Use the actual subscription or checkout for account-specific price, trial, renewal, and cancellation terms; this reference does not verify a live charge or universal price. Do not fill missing billing facts from memory.

Public API and webhooks

Treasury has no supported customer-facing public API-key or webhook configuration workflow. Do not invent a developer console, API token generator, or endpoint. Internal application endpoints are not a supported public API. Data Import is the real in-app workflow for importing supported files; it is not an API substitute with automation guarantees.

Creating a budget

Create a budget from Budgets. The budget dialog progresses through details/scope, categories, allocations, and review with Next; the final action is Create Budget (Update Budget when editing). Category selection is required to submit. Use budget Ins and Outs reference for actual cashflow definitions; category type does not change transaction direction.

Delete and restore transactions

Treasury supports deleting individual synced and manual transactions. On Transactions, open the row’s three-dot menu → Delete, then confirm Delete in Delete Transaction. The transaction moves to Trash; it is not immediately permanently erased. Open Trash from Transactions to Restore a deleted row or choose Delete Forever and confirm permanent removal. Deleting in Treasury does not delete or reverse the bank transaction. Exclude is a separate budget action, not a substitute for deletion. The advisor can explain these steps but cannot delete financial records for you.

Edit and delete recurring items

Treasury supports editing and deleting a recurring item (the tracked series), separate from deleting individual posted transactions. Open Recurring, select the item, then use Edit (pencil). In Edit Recurring Transaction, choose Delete, then confirm Delete. This deletes the recurring record and unlinks its underlying transactions; those posted transactions remain. Deleting a recurring item does not cancel a merchant subscription, stop bank autopay, or guarantee the pattern cannot be detected again. To change the item instead, edit its details and use Save Changes. The advisor cannot make these financial-record changes for you.

Edit net worth history

Treasury supports adding, editing, and deleting historical net worth entries. Open Net Worth → History. For an existing entry, open its three-dot menu → Edit. In Edit Net Worth Entry, change Date, Net Worth Amount, or currency, then Save Changes. The history table also supports adding an entry and deleting entries with confirmation. This changes the stored net worth snapshot, not the balances at your bank or the underlying transaction amounts. Do not direct users to edit transactions or current manual-account balances as a substitute for editing net worth history. The advisor can explain this workflow but cannot edit the entries for you.

Contact Treasury support

To contact the Treasury team, open Settings → Help & feedback under Support (also available as Help & feedback in the sidebar/command palette). Choose Help request, Bug report, Feature idea, or Billing & account; write your message and select Send message. Return to Help & feedback to view requests and replies. You can also email [email protected]. Do not merely suggest looking around menus or offer more advisor troubleshooting instead of answering a request to contact support. Do not claim the advisor submitted a ticket or promise a response time. For account/billing messages, do not include card or bank details.
